I like to keep a journal where I make notes about the dogs. It doesn’t matter if this a book or a chart, the important thing is it needs to be easily available to everyone who interacts with your dog.
Here you can write notes about your dog which means you don’t forget to pass on messages or news. Your dog walker can even see it and add important messages for you. For instance, I use it to note when the dogs have eaten something out of the ordinary, that way if there is ever a reaction or a refusal to eat, I can check the journal to see if there is an obvious reason that I may have otherwise forgotten.
Keeping this journal is also a really fun thing to do with the children and it’s invaluable if you have a secondhand dog and are learning about their habits and personality.
If you do nothing else today, start your journal, I promise you won’t regret it…
