Boycie

Boycie

German Shepherd | Puppy

My Best Friend, Boycie

When Boycie came into my life, I knew I was bringing home a puppy, but I don’t think I realised just how much he would become a part of our family. He is a German Shepherd with a huge personality, an even bigger heart, and somehow manages to be both the most exhausting and most wonderful part of my day!

From the very beginning, I wanted to give Boycie the absolute best start in life. He came from an exceptional breeder who poured her heart and soul into her puppies, so continuing to give him the best life is always going to be my first and foremost priority.

Being a large-breed puppy growing like a weed, his nutrition has always been incredibly important to me. I want to know that while he’s growing, developing and becoming the big, strong dog he’s destined to be, I’m giving his body everything it needs.

I’ve always been interested in feeding dogs a good-quality diet, but it became even more important to me after losing some of our family dogs who sadly didn’t live as long as we would have hoped. It really made me think about how much I want to do differently with Boycie.

Obviously, none of us can control genetics or guarantee how long our dogs will live, but I want to give him the best possible foundation for a long, healthy, and happy life.

That’s where LUNA & me came in.

Boycie absolutely thrives on it. His digestion has been fantastic when he’s settled on his usual food; he loves his meals and, most noticeably, his coat is absolutely gorgeous. It’s thick, soft, shiny and healthy-looking, and I constantly get comments about how lovely his coat is.

For me, seeing him looking so healthy and knowing he’s getting a nutritious, complete raw diet makes me incredibly happy.

Raw feeding a complete raw food like LUNA & me, I feel confident that Boycie is getting the nutrition he needs without me having to try and formulate his meals myself. I tried some other popular brands, but these didn’t seem to digest as well, and a lot came out in his poop.

Boycie has always been incredibly enthusiastic about food, but mealtimes with LUNA & me are something else. He absolutely loves it. I love watching him enjoy his food while knowing that I’m putting something genuinely nutritious into his bowl or during training.

Boycie is still young, but he’s already taught me so much. He’s gone from being a tiny puppy who wanted to put absolutely everything in his mouth to this enormous, clever, sensitive dog who is learning something new every single day.

We train together, go on walks, explore new places and spend plenty of time doing scent work and enrichment. Watching his confidence and personality develop has been one of the best parts of having him.

And honestly, he’s become my best friend.

He’s my shadow. He follows me around the house, checks in with me, waits for me, and somehow always seems to know when I need a cuddle.

There are definitely days when having a big puppy is hard work - muddy paws, puppy teeth, chewed things, training, cleaning and all the chaos that comes with having a young German Shepherd! But I wouldn’t change him for the world.

Because Boycie isn’t just my dog. He’s my best friend. He’s part of our family, and I want him to be around for as long as possible.

That’s why his diet is such a priority for me.

I can’t guarantee how long Boycie will live, and nobody can promise that a particular food will add years to a dog’s life. But I can make choices every day that support his health, and feeding him a high-quality, complete diet is one of the most important choices I can make for him.

My hope is that all those little choices add up over the years - good nutrition, exercise, training, mental stimulation, plenty of rest, regular veterinary care and lots and lots of love.

I want to look back one day and know that I gave Boycie the very best life I possibly could.

LUNA & me has become such an important part of that for us. It has given me confidence in what I’m feeding him, and seeing how well he’s doing on it makes me so happy. His beautiful coat, his energy, his enthusiasm for food and watching him grow into such a gorgeous young German Shepherd make me feel like we’re doing something right.

He’s got a long way to go yet, and I’m so excited to watch him grow. One day, I hope he’ll be an old German Shepherd with a grey face, lying beside me after a lifetime of adventures, and I’ll be able to look back at this crazy puppy stage and smile.

For now, though, he’s still my big, goofy, food-loving baby. And I couldn’t imagine my life without him.

Here’s to giving Boycie the best possible chance at a long, healthy and incredibly happy life - with LUNA & me in his bowl and me by his side every step of the way. ❤️
