Dottie

Dottie is a four-year-old English Bull Terrier. She is often mistaken for a miniature, as she weighs only 17kg. However, when she was two, she started to collapse whenever she became excited. We had this investigated, and it turned out that she has a degenerative heart condition.

This would explain why she is smaller! She takes medication that inhibits her desire for food. I took her to the vets when she became very poorly and refused to eat—even a piece of leftover steak!

It used to make me sad when I put her food down and she would simply sniff it and walk away. We tried everything! I had arguments with the vets, who said that I had caused this fussy behaviour, and I even had to put her on bug food. “Definitely not!” Dottie said!

We had everything tested. She is a very active dog who will happily go on 10-mile walks, even though her heart is not functioning fully.

I had never really considered a raw diet, as I had friends who fed whole rabbits and other joints. I wasn’t happy about the amount of freezer space this would take up, and it didn’t seem very convenient if you went away and someone else had to look after your dog.

I discovered LUNA & me thanks to the power of Facebook and thought it looked much easier. We had a spare freezer, which is now Dottie’s freezer!

Since trying LUNA & me, she is a different dog. She actually waits by her bowl and finishes her food without walking away. She seems to have more energy and is much happier all round.

The convenience of the individual Patties makes defrosting easy, without having smelly food left open in the fridge. Duck is definitely her favourite!
